Dressing a Baby Belly for a Formal Engagement

Generally speaking, pregnant women try not to put themselves in the limelight more than is absolutely necessary. While some ladies really enjoy and flaunt their motherly figure, most are not fond of the extra weight, lumps, and bumps showing up all over the place. So, what’s a girl to do when she finds herself pregnant and in the spotlight? Maybe she has to attend a formal dinner for work, go to a meeting with her husband and the CEO of his company, or attend a promotional ceremony for a friend. Whatever the case, these women need something to wear that not only compliments their new curves but makes them feel gorgeous and confident for the big occasion.

Suit

One option these ladies have is to wear a fancy suit. This idea might sound strange, as women normally wear dresses or something like that to a formal occasion. However, sometimes a two-piece outfit like a suit is the best choice. There are maternity suits available at many retail stores and they are not usually too terribly expensive (not compared to all the diapers she will soon be buying, anyway). A suit offers a lot of flexibility and coverage, making the lady feel a little more comfortable while still looking the part. She does not have to worry about her dress slipping up, or down, too far and exposing something she doesn’t want to expose. However, she can also enjoy looking just as sexy, only in a different way.

Skirt and Blouse

Other women might prefer to stick to the two-piece idea but go with a formal skirt and blouse combination. There are a lot of trendy top options for pregnant women that can fit into almost any occasion, even the fancier ones. With the right accessories and shoes, a nice skirt and blouse can be made to look like a million bucks, even if it only cost her fifty. Skirts are a good option for pregnant women because they provide an easy out when they need to use the restroom, which tends to be more often than not. They can quickly relieve themselves without all the hassle of zippering a dress or unbuttoning pants. For this reason, a skirt and top might prove to be the best option for formal wear.

Formal Gown

However, if a woman just feels the need to go all out and look absolutely stunning for the special occasion, there are formal maternity gowns available to them for pretty reasonable prices. Though it is not every woman’s dream to be wearing a prom style dress when pregnant, it is something that she might find herself needing to do at some point. Fortunately, the formal maternity gowns are usually much more comfortable and flexible than the typical fancy dress. These gowns have extra fabric for the belly and are usually very breathable, because pregnant women get hot very easily. A formal dress is yet another good choice for ladies who find themselves pregnant and in need of a fancy outfit. With all the different options out there, pregnant women can rest assured there is nothing to worry about in the formal maternity clothing department.

Covering The Bump: Kate Middleton Embarks On Maternity Makeover

Kate Middleton on the Lookout for Maternity Wear

It’s been over 2 months since Kate Middleton had no choice but to disclose her pregnancy after she was committed to hospital with acute morning sickness in November 2012. Now that she seems to be well on the mend, she’s been spotted out and about, perusing a number of stores in search of the perfect pair of maternity pants. And with the public showing an insatiable amount of interest in her life, we’ll be able to follow her every move in the quest

Mind the Gap

She was seen on one of her favourite places to shop, King’s Road and most recently on Oxford Street. A source came forward saying that she was browsing for jeggings at a GAP store in London. As E! News reported, last week Middleton was seen at women’s sportswear brand, Sweaty Betty at Selfridges department store in London. She was on the search for some casual clothing and managed to avoid all paparazzi without anyone being the wiser as to whether she has made a purchase or not.

Skinny Latte

She has expressed her love of very skinny jeans and although she’d been identified looking around for jeggings in the GAP, she called it quits before she found anything as she coudn’t find the right leg length. Two other sightings of Kate around the streets of London recently included a visit to cafe franchise Pret A Manger, where she apparently frequents on quite a regular basis for coffee with friends.

Pregnant Pause

Many sources have confirmed that there is a suspended sense of fear in the air surrounding the pregnancy in July this year. The morning sickness she has been experiencing is known as Hyperemesis Gravidarum and in some instances can become serious. Kate is under strict instruction from her doctors to rest well and the 31 year-old Duchess has been undergoing hypnotherapy to help her cope with the issue which includes persistent vomiting and negative reaction to the intake of food and liquids.

Kate’s Couture

Copy Kates have been around ever since Prince William proposed to the now Duchess of Cambridge. Since then we’ve even seen women getting cosmetic surgery with the instruction to replicate Kate Middleton’s nose. At the announcement of Kate and Will’s engagement Kate wore a stunning Issa deep blue dress, which sold out in minutes. Now, as she starts moving out of the early stages of pregnancy, the maternity version of that very same dress has been created in homage. The simple wrap dress is now available on line at Blossom Mother & Child and retails for £522. It succeeds in burying the bump through its use of loose silk and criss-cross finish.

It was proven that fertility rates increased significantly after the announcement of Kate Middleton’s pregnancy and so we’ll have to wait and see if the store has produced enough stock to cater for all those who endeavour to replicate Kate’s couture.

Not Your Mom’s Maternity Wear: New Trends You’ll Love

If you take a look at old photo albums, you’ll notice that moms, grandmas, aunts, and even older sisters had a tendency to dress in frumpy, baggy clothing throughout their pregnancies. Dresses looked a lot like camping tents, and tops were equally shapeless. Luckily for today’s women, new trends in maternity wear allow us to express our individual senses of style, and to continue wearing clothes that make us feel happy. Here, we’ll take a look at some new trends in maternity wear that offer a flattering look, no matter what the occasion or the season.

Summer Styles
Tank tops with supportive inner panels can be great for pairing with shorts and capri pants or even flowing skirts during the warmest months of the year. For summertime parties and other gatherings, maxi dresses with tank sleeves and empire waistbands can be a great choice, since they’re cool and comfortable, yet great-looking.
For summer weddings and other special occasions, a wide array of formal wear and cocktail dresses are available in just about any color of the rainbow.

Spring and Autumn Styles
Spring and Autumn are great times to wear transitional styles, such as long cardigans that drape beautifully over your curves. Maternity cardigans tend to have open fronts to accommodate changing shapes, and they’re available in numerous colors to help you pull other wardrobe basics together. You’ll find them with or without pockets, and with various embellishments such as ties, ruffles, and buttons that add a bit of extra style without adding too much extra bulk.
Maternity jackets are also great for layering, whether you choose a tailored style or a more relaxed look in a fabric such as corduroy or denim. Ponchos are another fantastic choice for layering, and they’re available in a wide array of fabrics to match and contrast with existing wardrobe pieces.

Winter Styles
During the winter, jackets, ponchos, and cardigans can continue to help you pull your look together. Warmer sweaters and long-sleeved tees can also be fantastic everyday pieces, as can blouses and slacks. For holiday parties and other gatherings, look into wrap dresses in forgiving fabrics like cozy jersey, or choose something more festive with a bit of sparkle at the collar.

Everyday Wear
Maternity jeans are a great choice for everyday wear, as are leggings. These styles look simply fantastic with most tops, and they can be worn throughout the entire pregnancy and take you through the first few weeks after delivery with ease, too. If budget and closet space are a major concern, then look for dark colors that you can pair with nearly anything. Select pieces that offer expandability, so they’ll fit you for a longer period of time, and choose quality pieces, particularly if you plan to get just a few items. This strategy will help you make the most of your wardrobe without forcing you to re-purchase items that have become worn out halfway through your pregnancy.
As for tops, trendy maternity styles abound. Begin with shapes that flow over the belly area while providing some definition at the shoulders and arms, as this will help to ensure your shape looks appealing no matter how large your belly becomes. Look for shirts with longer lengths to provide extra coverage, and don’t forget to invest in a few belly bands in different colors to help maximize your wardrobe and fill any gaps that might otherwise make some of your favorites unwearable by the time you enter your eigth and ninth month of pregnancy.

Finally, remember to accessorize, no matter what the season. You can add pop to casual and professional styles with ease this way, and really make the most of your wardrobe.

Buy Maternity Clothes Online: Save Money and Time

By the third or fourth month of your pregnancy, you are likely to find that your clothes are too tight to fit comfortably anymore. Plan ahead by looking for stylish maternity clothes that will last you throughout your pregnancy. Most women want to look and feel good during their pregnancy. Shopping for maternity clothes online will help you to save money without compromising on style.

Determine ahead of time what you think you will need during your pregnancy. A selection of nice tops and pants, along with specialty wear such as maternity formal dresses and active wear should get you through your pregnancy comfortably. Don’t forget different size bras that will become essential especially during the later stages of pregnancy.

The cost of all of these items can add up quickly. Perhaps the best way to shop for everything you need would be to visit online stores that specialize in maternity clothes. Online stores are able to keep a larger inventory of clothing than traditional stores. This is good news for selection purposes and for your pocketbook. In addition, online stores often have fabulous sales and promotions!

Just because you are pregnant does not mean that you don’t want to keep up with the latest fashion trends. Online stores, such as Trendy Tummy Maternity, offer a broad selection of the latest maternity clothes on the market. Whether you need tops, bottoms, sweaters, swimwear, active wear, sleepwear or plus-sized maternity clothing, you will find it at this unique maternity boutique. Take your time shopping from the comfort of your own home to find the most fashionable maternity wear that you will love to wear during your entire pregnancy and beyond!

Finding The Right Maternity Clothes For The Office

Usually, when we see maternity clothes in advertisements, it’s all stretchy wrap tunics and comfort-fit yoga pants. As snuggly and comfortable as it is to dress like that all the time, for many women, we’re still hard at work well in to the second and third trimester of pregnancy— and no matter how comfortable your spouse’s T-shirt from college that’s gotten all stretched out might be, it’s still not workplace appropriate attire.

If you’re looking for maternity clothes with a professional edge, dresses are great— especially during the cooler seasons, when no one will suspect your cute leggings are covering the fact you can’t shave your legs! Nothing says comfort and elegance like the Mayreau Long Sleeve Cowl Neck Maternity / Nursing Dress. It comes in five fabulous colors, and has fantastic draping around the high waist to flatter your figure even after the baby is born! As if that weren’t enough, the drape of the cowl neck and the added detail on the wrists of the sleeves are all small, polished finishing touches that will draw the eye. And if you’re looking to have a few more date nights before the new baby comes, with a statement necklace or a bold pair of earrings, this dress goes from day to evening beautifully.

Sometimes, especially during the third trimester, it can feel almost impossible to regulate your temperature. One minute you’re freezing cold, and then after making it up a couple stairs you feel like you’re burning up. The super chic Orla Maternity / Nursing Dress And Jacket is made of incredibly breathable (and incredibly ecologically friendly!) bamboo that wicks away moisture quickly. Pairing an elegant long sleeve jacket with the sleeveless sheath was a stroke of genius that helps you regulate your own temperature. And the white piping on the scoop neckline and above the knee hem keeps it away from the traditionally all-black maternity clothes, and the hemline lets you show off your sexy legs!

Shop Maternity Online

Sometimes you just don’t want to go out shopping. Your legs are starting to ache, you are hungry all the time, and your good pants don’t fit. In fact, nothing fits but your husband’s varsity sweatpants. You need to get some maternity clothes, pronto. Who would want to leave the house feeling like that? Fortunately in this age of digital wizardry you don’t have to.

Shopping in person can be enjoyable when you’re not expecting, but when you are pregnant and looking for maternity clothes, it can be a huge hassle scurrying all over town searching for clothes that fit and don’t look frumpy or outdated. It takes all day and there’s no way to be sure that you’re going to find something you actually like! If you shop online instead, you can look at clothes from the comfort of your favorite chair, wearing your pajamas, or even on break while you’re at work. You don’t have to drive from place to place, so you save time and money.

The best part of shopping for maternity clothes online is the incomparable variety. The maternity sections at department stores are frustratingly small, and often don’t carry the higher-end brands that discerning shoppers are looking for. If you want the best selection and the best boutique maternity clothing, try out online stores like www.trendytummymaternity.com. You will find that these retailers, who do not have to maintain storefronts and have much smaller sales staffs, pass on the savings to you in the form of competitive prices and unique maternity clothing that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. When you want to look your best while you’re expecting, turn to the experts who have turned their expertise into an online business, and make them work for you.

How To Shop For Stylish Maternity Clothes

There are two schools of thought about maternity clothes. Some women like to conceal their pregnancy for as long as they can; other women prefer to celebrate their growing bellies and wear their pregnancy proudly. No matter which approach you like best, it’s easy to find stylish maternity clothes that work for you. It just takes a little practice.

Stealth Maternity

When you’re dressing to draw attention away from your pregnancy, the most stylish maternity clothes you can find should be fitted or tailored in parts of the body that you want to highlight, and loosely skimming the parts of the body that you want to deemphasize. Take a look at the Rosette Maternity Nursing Tunic, for instance; the playful detail at the neckline draws attention away from your baby bump without making it look like you’re trying too hard. You could pair that or something like it with a pretty tailored jacket to dress it up. The jacket’s details at the collar and sleeves will also help attract attention away from your belly.

Maternity Pride

If you’re proud of your baby bump, then you’re in luck! Designers have been hard at work making beautiful and witty clothing for the mom-to-be who wants all the most stylish maternity clothes. If you’re in the maternity pride camp, you’ve got a ton of great options to choose from. One of my favorites is the Octopus Maternity Tunic. The cap sleeve and boat neck silhouette are unique details that add specialness to a clever design. In general, if you’re not hiding your tummy you should stick to longer length tops with something interesting at the neckline. You can pick something that’s more fitted at the bottom, just be sure that it’s long enough to cover your belly when you need it.

Beyond Black Maternity Clothing

If there’s one perennial favorite in maternity clothing, it’s pieces that are flowy and black. When maternity clothing was first produced commercially, black was the only color available! Going with the old adage that black is slimming, women who were pregnant were supposed to keep their bellies to themselves, and not draw too much attention with their clothing. That doesn’t sound like much fun!

Thankfully, these days society understands that being pregnant isn’t the same as attending a funeral. There’s incredible number of styles and deliciously bright colors available in maternity clothing just waiting to help show off that baby you’ve been taking such great care of!

The Megan Ruched Long Sleeve Maternity Top wouldn’t be out of place on a non-maternity rack in a high-end department store. It comes in this season’s absolute hottest color’s a rich lipstick pink that fashionistas are referring to as “honeysuckle.” It will make your skin glow, and with the empire waist and moderate V neckline, you’ll be turning heads left and right. And with a price under fifty bucks, it’s a total steal!

If you’re not a pink kind of woman, you’ll stop traffic in the Giselle Front Tie Maternity/Nursing Dress. It is stunning in a rich royal blue, but there are three other colors to choose from as well as black, a rich espresso brown, and a gorgeous indigo. The complicated wrap effect in front adds all sorts of visual interest above the bump, and the combination scoop/V neckline draws the eye down to the ties around the high waist.

There’s not a woman alive who doesn’t look good in some shade of red, and it would be hard not to sizzle in this Evita Ruffle Wrap Maternity / Nursing Dress. It also comes in black, maroon, and pewter, but the red really stands out from a crowd. The dress is comfortable while still being beautifully tailored, with ruffles draping beautifully from the side bow on the dress’ sash, curving around and down to meet the matching ruffles at the hemline. It’s cut on the bias to flatter your figure, and even features nursing openings that you’d never guess were there.
